Ready-Set PVP Perforated Punctum Plugs

FCI Ophthalmics introduces its "Ready-Set" PVP Perforated Punctum Plug for lacrimal stenosis to the American market, available now. This completes the "Ready-Set" family of punctum plugs which are made of soft medical grade silicone and have the same characteristic slanted, ultra thin and flat collarettes that fit flush against the eyelid margin for maximum patient comfort.

Perforated or flow-thru punctum plugs were developed to keep a stenosed punctum open when simple probing is not enough to allow proper tear drainage. "Ready-Set" plugs are preloaded on a disposable dilator/inserter instrument and are individually packaged, sterile, 2 plug "sets" per box. Unlike the plugs for occlusion which vary in size, the perforated plugs come in one size, 0.9 mm in diameter, with a 0.6 mm perforation to assure fluid flow. PVP (polyvinalpyrrolidone) is a thin coating on the medical silicone that prevents debris from collecting on its surface. For more information and prices, contact:

Punctal Gauge and Dilator Instruments Punctal Gauge and Dilator Instruments

FCI Ophthalmics announces the availability of combination Punctal Gauge and Dilator Instruments, for proper punctum plug sizing. Each instrument has a gauge tip on one end, and on the other end a specially calibrated dilator to fit its corresponding punctal plug. They are sold individually or as a set. These reusable instruments come in four sizes: Micro, Mini, Small and Medium. They are scored at each end for firm, positive grip. They are made of titanium, and are sold non-sterile. The set of four comes with an autoclaveable plastic case. The main feature of the gauge/dilator set is that it eliminates the guessing game of which size plug to use and with the appropriate dilator size at the other end, one does not have to worry about over dilating the punctum.
